What do you see when you look deeper?

Soft tissue sarcoma (STS) is a rare and heterogeneous type of tumour with more than 100 different histologic subtypes, and each subtype has a different clinical behaviour.1

  • Liposarcoma (LPS) represents the predominant subtype of STS, comprising 15-20% of all cases2

  • Among liposarcomas, DDLPS represents 15-20% of diagnosed cases2

DDLPS is an aggressive subtype of liposarcoma with a poor prognosis3

Common symptoms of DDLPS4-6

  • A new visible lump that develops under the skin (not usually painful at first)

  • Painful swelling or numbness in the area around the lump

  • Constipation

  • Abdominal pain, cramping, and/or swelling

  • Blood in the stool and/or vomit

  • Cough or breathlessness

While DDLPS is an aggressive subtype of liposarcoma with poor prognosis, little has changed in the past 5 decades in terms of treatment modalities3,7
